Dhanapur, Chandauli. In the early hours of Wednesday night, a newly constructed house in Birna village was violently breached. Armed with little more than stealth, the burglars made off with approximately ₹1.6 lakh in cash and a handful of gold ornaments.

The property belongs to Bhanu Maurya. Since the second‑storey extension is still under construction, the family continues to reside in their older dwelling, keeping the new building locked each night.

Following their usual routine, the family secured the fresh house before retiring to the old one. Sometime during the night, unknown assailants broke through the locked doors and rummaged through the rooms.

Cash and Gold Jewellery Stolen

When the family returned on Thursday morning, they discovered displaced furniture and items scattered across the floor. An inventory check confirmed that ₹1.6 lakh in cash, a gold chain, a ring and several other pieces of jewellery had vanished.

The victims promptly lodged a complaint with the local police‑revenue village (PRV). Officers arrived swiftly, cordoned off the scene and began gathering forensic evidence.

Police Scrutinise CCTV Recordings

Investigators examined the surveillance cameras installed around the property. Preliminary reviews suggest that the break‑in was captured on video, and the footage is now being meticulously analysed to trace the perpetrators.

Authorities are also probing how the thieves managed to bypass the locked doors and whether they possessed prior knowledge of the house’s temporary vacancy.

Residents Demand Heightened Security

The incident has amplified anxiety among neighbouring households, who report a spate of similar thefts in recent weeks. Villagers are urging the police to increase night patrols and bolster overall security in the area.

Local leaders have called for stronger preventive measures, especially during periods when homes are unoccupied, to deter future break‑ins.

The investigation remains ongoing as police work to locate the suspects and recover the stolen cash and jewellery.
