Gurugram. A milk vendor was allegedly ambushed with a knife and robbed of ₹12,000 near the Sector‑7 market on Monday night. The victim, identified as New Colony resident Narendra Bhadana, suffered injuries and was rushed to a nearby government hospital. After filing his statement, New Colony police tracked down a suspect and placed him in custody later that evening.
Victim Was Heading Home After Completing Deliveries
According to police information, Narendra Bhadana makes a living by delivering milk and collecting payments from customers in the Sector‑7 market area. On the night of the incident, he finished his routine deliveries and cash collection, pocketing the day's earnings of ₹12,000.
While making his way back, he reached a relatively secluded stretch of road where a young man reportedly stopped him. The encounter turned violent when the assailant brandished a knife and struck Bhadana in the chest and abdomen.
Despite his attempts to fend off the attacker, Bhadana was overpowered, and the suspect fled with the cash‑laden bag.
Injured Vendor Collapses on the Road
After the assault, Bhadana fell to the ground, bleeding heavily. Passersby who witnessed the scene alerted the police. Responding officers arrived promptly, arranged for his transport to the nearby government hospital, and began his medical treatment.
Police later visited the hospital, recorded Bhadana’s account, and used his description to launch a manhunt for the perpetrator.
Suspect Arrested Within Hours
New Colony police acted swiftly. Based on the victim’s testimony, they identified Harpreet Singh, also known as Bobby, a resident of Krishna Colony. A police team located him later that night and placed him under arrest.
Investigators are now interrogating the accused to piece together the motive behind the attack and robbery.

While the robbery of ₹12,000 is a clear financial angle, police are also probing whether an existing personal dispute triggered the assault. They are examining any prior interactions between Bhadana and the suspect to determine if the incident stemmed from a deeper feud.
