Background of the Incident
In the Barhan locality of Agra, Uttar Pradesh Police are investigating a violent episode that dates back to the night of October 20, 2025, shortly after Diwali celebrations. The victim, a chemical assistant engineer employed by a cement firm in Haldwani, had travelled home for the festival.
Details of the Attack
According to the FIR, the victim was resting outside the family home when his sister‑in‑law allegedly beckoned him to a bedroom around 2 a.m. Once inside, she is said to have assaulted him with a sharp blade, inflicting serious wounds. The victim’s screams awakened other family members, who rushed to his side. He was promptly taken to SN Medical College, and because of the gravity of his injuries, later transferred to AIIMS, Delhi for advanced care.
Manhunt and Arrest
Following the assault, the accused’s husband reportedly escorted her to her parental house in Etah. She then vanished from the village, evading police attempts to locate her for several months. After persistent investigations, officers finally tracked her to a relative’s residence and placed her under arrest.
Legal Proceedings
DCP West Zone Aditya Singh disclosed that the medical report confirmed the victim’s injuries were severe enough to be life‑threatening. Consequently, the charge sheet now includes an attempt‑to‑murder allegation. The enquiry into the motives and surrounding circumstances remains ongoing.
