A Vatican‑City Blueprint Comes to Life
In the coal‑laden heart of Rajrappa, the Shri Shri Durga Puja Committee is unveiling a pandal that mirrors the grandeur of Italy’s Vatican City. The project, overseen by Pankaj Tent House of Ramgarh, has mobilised more than a dozen seasoned craftsmen who are erecting a edifice that will stretch to approximately 51 feet in height and 70 feet in breadth. With a budget of around ₹7.75 lakh, the committee aims to recreate the iconic silhouette of the Holy See for festival‑goers.
Fair Attractions and Cultural Highlights
Beyond the majestic pavilion, the grounds will pulse with a variety of amusements. Organisers intend to install close to ten different rides, featuring a daring attraction dubbed the “Well of Death.” Food counters, souvenir stalls and a dedicated cultural troupe will keep families and devotees entertained throughout the festivities. The Durga idol for this year is planned to tower at six to seven feet tall.
Enhanced Safety Protocols
Expecting sizable crowds, the committee has bolstered security with a web of about 60 CCTV cameras covering the pandal and its environs. Additional police personnel from the Rajrappa station will stand by to manage order and respond swiftly to any incidents.
Spiritual Setting
Rajrappa already enjoys a spiritual magnetism thanks to the revered Maa Chhinnamastika Temple, which draws pilgrims from distant corners during Navratri. This year’s fusion of a Vatican‑themed pandal, vibrant fair, cultural programmes and tightened security promises to make Durga Puja a memorable experience for worshippers and tourists alike.
