What triggered the newest reshuffle?
This week the Uttar Pradesh Police issued a fresh batch of transfer orders, affecting five Additional Superintendents of Police (ASPs) across the state. While three officers received new assignments, two previously announced moves were cancelled.
Updated postings
Santosh Kumar‑I – initially slated to move from his role as Additional Deputy Commissioner in Gautam Buddh Nagar to Lucknow, the transfer was called off. He will stay at the Director General’s headquarters in Lucknow and take up the ASP (North) post in Bareilly.
Pawan Gautam – originally earmarked for ASP Kasganj, the officer has now been redirected to serve as ASP in Rae Bareli.
Alok Singh‑III – previously heading the ASP office in Rae Bareli, will instead assume charge as ASP in Kasganj.
Cancellations
Alok Kumar Jaiswal – his move from the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board in Lucknow to the ASP (North) slot in Bareilly has been scrapped.
The earlier order that would have shifted Santosh Kumar‑I from Gautam Buddh Nagar to Lucknow has also been withdrawn; he remains in his revised Bareilly posting.
Geographic impact
The reshuffle reconfigures senior police leadership in three districts: Rae Bareli will now be overseen by Pawan Gautam, Kasganj will be led by Alok Singh‑III, and Bareilly will see Santosh Kumar‑I take charge.
Why it matters
Mid‑term reassignments like these underscore the fluid nature of police administration in Uttar Pradesh, where strategic redeployments aim to tackle local law‑and‑order challenges and align senior officers with shifting priorities.
