Swiss President Guy Parmelin will arrive in Noida on Tuesday, kicking off a three‑day state visit to India. He is slated to spend about two and a half hours getting an up‑close look at the brand‑new Noida International Airport in Jewar.

The president is expected on the airfield around 11:30 am and will stay until roughly 2 pm. His agenda includes a guided walkthrough of both the passenger and cargo terminals, a sit‑down with senior airport officials, and a briefing on the project's development schedule and operational strategy.

The Jewar venture is being driven by Yamuna International Airport Pvt Ltd, a wholly‑owned subsidiary of Zurich Airport International AG – the Swiss group that runs Zurich Airport. During the visit, Parmelin will receive a comprehensive presentation on the partnership and will inspect the infrastructure that is rapidly taking shape.

First presidential state aircraft lands at Jewar

Airport authorities say the Swiss leader’s plane will be the first international flight carrying a head of state to touch down on the runway. While cargo aircraft from Russia and China used the strip during the recent BRICS summit, Parmelin’s arrival marks a symbolic milestone for the fledgling hub.

He will also meet the Swiss engineers and project managers stationed on site, receiving briefings on passenger services, cargo handling, cutting‑edge technology, and the overall operational model envisioned for the airport.

Business and technology cooperation in focus

Parmelin’s India trip coincides with a surge in economic and technological dialogue between the two countries. The official programme features discussions on trade, investment, education, research and innovation.

Accompanying the president are senior Swiss business leaders and academic representatives, turning the Jewar stop into a platform for exploring wider collaboration opportunities between Indian and Swiss enterprises.

Airport prepares for international operations

Noida International Airport has already launched commercial flights and is gearing up for a broader slate of international services. The Swiss delegation’s assessment of the passenger and cargo facilities will be crucial as the airport aims to become a major aviation hub for the National Capital Region.

Stringent security measures have been put in place ahead of the presidential arrival, with multiple layers of protection and dedicated traffic arrangements to ensure smooth movement of the entourage.

The high‑profile visit underscores Switzerland’s stake in the Jewar project and opens another avenue for India and Switzerland to deepen cooperation across business, infrastructure, technology and investment.
