Family’s brief stop spirals into a midnight robbery

During the early hours of the morning, Vivek and his relatives pulled over near Rai to shake off fatigue. After locking the vehicle, they settled inside for a short nap, oblivious to the danger that was already lurking nearby.

How the burglary unfolded

In the pre‑dawn gloom, Vivek awoke to the unsettling sight of a man crouching beside the car. The intruder rummaged through the locked doors, extracting a bag, a laptop, a smartphone, earbuds, chargers and other personal effects. Before Vivek could react, the suspect sprinted away, leapt over a metal railing and joined two accomplices waiting on a motorcycle across the road.

Coordinated escape on two wheels

The trio sped off in a synchronized dash, leaving the family stunned and their belongings vanished. Vivek estimates the loss at roughly ₹2.25 lakh.

Police response and ongoing investigation

Vivek, a resident of Maruti Kunj, filed a formal complaint with the Rai police, urging swift recovery of the stolen items and apprehension of the culprits. The authorities have registered an FIR and are now reviewing witness statements, CCTV footage, and any leads that might identify the thieves and trace their escape route.

"Roadside halts, especially in isolated stretches, demand heightened vigilance. Motorists should double‑check that doors are locked and valuables are out of sight before resting," said a senior police spokesperson.
  • Check vehicle locks before stopping.
  • Avoid leaving high‑value items in plain sight.
  • Report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station immediately.
