In the pre‑dawn hours of Sunday, a devastating road accident unfolded in the Sachendi area of Kanpur. Sundarlal Kushwaha, 55, and his 22‑year‑old son Manoj were travelling home on a two‑wheeler when a vehicle suddenly collided with the back of their bike near Udaipur Kanjad Dera.

Chronology of the incident

The pair had just visited their relative, Phool Singh, and were en route to their house in Bambi. At roughly 10:30 p.m., an unidentified automobile slammed into the rear of their motorcycle, hurling both riders onto the pavement. The driver fled the scene without stopping.

Immediate emergency response

Bystanders quickly called the police. Officers arrived, provided first‑aid, and rushed the injured father and son to CHC Kalyanpur. Despite resuscitation attempts, both victims were declared dead on arrival. Their bodies were later sent for post‑mortem analysis, and the bereaved family received the tragic news.

Background of the victims

Manoj, the only son of Sundarlal, worked as a mason and left behind a younger sister, deepening the family’s sorrow. The sudden loss of both father and son has plunged their household into profound grief.

Police investigation

Authorities have opened a search for the hit‑and‑run vehicle. Sachendi police are examining CCTV footage from cameras installed around the crash site and adjacent streets to pinpoint the make and registration of the offending car. Inspector Deenanath Mishra confirmed the fatality of two lives and assured that the probe is ongoing. Legal proceedings will commence once the family lodges a formal complaint.
