Intensive Three‑Day Campaign to Close Gaps in the Electoral Roll

Between 7 and 9 October, election authorities in Jharkhand will set up dedicated digitisation kiosks at polling stations throughout the state. The drive is part of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the rolls and aims to give residents who were missed an opportunity to register.

Focus on New Voter Enrolment

Chief Electoral Officer K. Ravi Kumar has asked District Election Officers, Electoral Registration Officers and their assistants to ensure the smooth running of the three‑day effort. Eligible citizens not yet listed can submit Form 6 at any of the kiosks. Staff will also expedite the digitisation of Forms 6, 7 and 8 received from Booth Level Officers – Form 6 for fresh entries, Form 7 for deletions, and Form 8 for corrections or updates.

Statewide Mega Help‑Desk on Oct 10

After the digitisation sprint, every polling station will host a BLO‑BLA‑2 meeting‑cum‑mega help‑desk on 10 October. Voters can obtain assistance with registration, lodge objections, verify notices issued during the revision, and resolve any other roll‑related queries. This is the fourth statewide initiative aimed at demystifying the revision process and addressing voter concerns.

Ensuring No Eligible Voter Is Left Out

CEO Kumar stressed that the electoral machinery must ensure every eligible Indian citizen is captured in the roll. Officers have been instructed to intensify outreach in areas with vulnerable or under‑represented groups, providing additional support where required.

Why Errors Appear in the Roll

The chief electoral officer explained that mismatches can arise from enumeration mistakes, inaccurate mapping in earlier revisions, or legacy data errors. The present SIR exercise is not intended to rectify every historic inaccuracy; its primary goal is to produce an up‑to‑date, reliable roll for the upcoming election.

Eligibility Criteria for Inclusion

Applicants must be Indian citizens, have turned 18 on or before 1 October 2026, and normally reside within the jurisdiction of the relevant polling station. Required documents will be verified at the time of registration.

Election officials have been directed to speed up the processing and digitisation of Forms 6, 7 and 8 so that applicants receive prompt assistance and the roll reflects the latest information. The final roll from this SIR cycle is slated for publication on 19 October.
