Jaipur. Police have filed a First Information Report (FIR) against the proprietor, Anand Sethi, after a ferocious fire engulfed the Sethi Complex in Minhari Ji Ka Katla, Badi Chaupar. The complaint alleges that the building was erected illegally, fire‑fighting equipment was non‑functional, no Fire NOC had been obtained, and access routes were cramped and blocked.
The blaze ignited on the second floor and burned unabated for roughly 13 hours. As the flames surged, inventory stored across multiple shops and warehouses was consumed, prompting fire crews to mount a prolonged rescue effort.
Fire tenders struggled to reach the site because the surrounding lanes were too narrow and littered with obstacles. Consequently, firefighters resorted to improvised measures to gain a foothold and combat the inferno.
Among the affected businesses were Satnam Madan Traders, Jitendra/Kamal, Kamal Agarwal, Shailendra Agarwal, Rajesh, Hasan, Ramesh/Rajesh, Rakesh Gupta’s Vimal Hosiery Agency, Chhotumai Purushottam, Ashok Kumar Sharma, Vikas Sharma, and several shops labeled 201‑A through 206‑A. Vimal Hosiery Agency alone is estimated to have incurred losses of ₹65‑70 lakh, while the total damage to the remaining establishments is still being tallied.
The FIR was lodged following a report submitted by Sub‑Inspector Narendra. SHO Rakesh Khalia has been tasked with the investigation, which will scrutinise the structure’s construction, the condition of fire‑safety gear, the status of the Fire NOC, and overall compliance with safety norms.
