Jaipur: Rajasthan is set to experience a fresh wave of unsettled weather in mid‑October. Meteorologists warn that between 14 and 16 October, a western disturbance will sweep across the state, bringing thunderstorms, intense rain and occasional hail to several districts.
Showers Likely Over Sri Ganganagar, Hanumangarh and Bikaner
The forecast predicts substantial rain showers accompanied by gusty winds in Sri Ganganagar and Hanumangarh on the 14th and 15th. The Bikaner‑Phalodi stretch may also encounter intermittent thunderstorms, with isolated hail reports that could endanger standing crops as well as those recently harvested.
Jaipur and Bharatpur Divisions Remain Vulnerable
Weather activity will linger over the Jaipur and Bharatpur divisions through the 16th. Rural pockets of Jaipur could see hail on the 15th, while Dausa and its surroundings are slated for heavier rainfall. Further west, districts such as Churu and Nagaur should stay on guard for sudden wind gusts and lightning strikes.
Growers Express Concern Over Potential Crop Damage
The impending rain and hail have raised alarms among farmers and market sellers. In the Bikaner division and the Shekhawati region, many fields have already been harvested, yet several crops are nearing maturity and remain exposed. Open‑air grain storage and market yards risk moisture ingress, which could degrade quality and squeeze farmer incomes.
Precautionary Measures Recommended for Farmers and Traders
Authorities urge growers and merchants to act promptly. Crops and harvested grain left outdoors should be covered with tarpaulins or shifted to sheltered areas where possible. Ensuring proper field drainage is crucial to prevent water‑logging during the anticipated showers.
Weather Outlook Beyond October 16
Model projections suggest a transition to drier conditions in western Rajasthan after 16 October, while eastern parts of the state should see improvement from 17 October onward. Until then, residents, farmers and traders are advised to monitor local alerts and stay prepared for gusty winds, lightning, rain and possible hail.
