Hathras – In a surprise verification operation conducted by the state transport department outside Bagla Combined District Hospital on Monday evening, five privately‑owned ambulances were impounded for allegedly breaching transport regulations.

Why the Action Was Initiated

The raid targeted vehicles stationed close to the main gate and the adjacent over‑bridge of the hospital. Enforcement officials, headed by Assistant Regional Transport Officer Laxman Prasad and Probationary Transport Officer Ram Babu, examined each ambulance to ensure all mandatory paperwork was in order.

Documentation Checked

The inspection team reviewed a comprehensive set of records, such as:

  • Vehicle registration certificates
  • Fitness certificates
  • Insurance policies
  • Road tax receipts
  • Relevant permits and licences

All five ambulances were found missing one or more of these essential documents, leading to their immediate seizure.

Two operators opted to compound the offense on the spot, paying a combined fine of roughly Rs 12,000. The remaining three ambulances are now subject to formal legal proceedings, and all confiscated vehicles have been transferred to the ARTO office for further action.

Continued Enforcement Efforts

The transport department emphasized that this operation forms part of an ongoing campaign to curb unlicensed or improperly documented ambulances operating around the district hospital. Authorities are also vigilant about illegal parking of ambulances that linger near hospital premises while awaiting patients.

By tightening oversight, officials aim to guarantee that every private ambulance serving the community complies with required safety and regulatory standards.
