Details of the Complaint

A 22‑year‑old resident of Banka approached the Bhargama police station in Araria district to lodge a formal FIR against Mohammad Rabban, who lives in Ward 7 of Dhaneshwari panchayat. The complainant asserts that Rabban hid his real identity and repeatedly demanded cash from her throughout a six‑year liaison.

How the Couple Met

The woman explains that she had been staying with her family near Delhi’s bustling Sabzi Mandi market. It was there she met Rabban, who introduced himself as “Sonu.” According to her account, the two maintained a romantic relationship for almost six years.

Marriage Proposal Triggers Dispute

When the woman asked Rabban to marry her, he allegedly summoned her to his native village. Accompanied by her mother and brother, she travelled to Dhaneshwari panchayat, only to discover that a quarrel erupted between the two families, bringing any wedding plans to an abrupt halt.

Allegations of Monetary Exploitation

The complainant further claims that Rabban extracted money from her on several occasions during their time together. After the marriage proposal fell through, she turned to the police to retrieve the funds and to register a case for alleged fraud.

Attempts at Community Mediation

Local villagers attempted to mediate and reach an amicable settlement, but the discussions broke down. Consequently, the woman submitted a written application to the Bhargama police outlining her grievances.

Police Investigation Update

Bhargama Station House Officer Rajesh Kumar confirmed receipt of the FIR and said the case is currently under review. He noted that, so far, no concrete proof of financial fraud has been produced. The authorities will verify the allegations against the available evidence before deciding on any further legal steps.
