October’s Heat Still Holds On
Even though the calendar has turned to October, much of Haryana continues to feel the summer’s lingering warmth. Daytime highs are running a few degrees above the seasonal average, and sunshine remains intense across most districts.
Data from the Agricultural Meteorology Department of Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (CCSHAU) in Hisar show that the last four to five days have been dominated by dry westerly breezes, pushing daytime temperatures 3‑4 °C above normal and night‑time lows 2‑3 °C higher than usual.
Two Successive Western Disturbances Forecast for Oct 7‑12
Meteorologists now expect a shift in the weather pattern as two western disturbances travel across the region between 7 and 12 October. Both systems are likely to bring cloud cover, thunderstorms, rain showers and gusty winds to several districts.
First Disturbance – Impacts Beginning Oct 7
The first system is projected to reach the Himalayan foothills on 7 October, with its outer bands touching Haryana that night. Northern districts could experience thunderstorms, strong gusts and light rain from 7‑9 October, while parts of the south‑west may also see isolated showers.
These rains are expected to shave a few degrees off the temperature, offering a short‑lived relief from the persistent heat.
Second Disturbance – Arrival Around Oct 9
A second western disturbance is slated to become active near 9 October. Its influence should extend from 10‑12 October, delivering partly cloudy skies, renewed wind bursts and additional rainfall across many areas.
The added moisture and wind will help curb the daytime highs that have dominated the past week.
Post‑Rain Cool Breeze
Once the twin systems move eastward, north‑westerly breezes are expected to dominate, pulling down both day‑time and night‑time temperatures. Residents can look forward to a noticeable dip in heat and humidity as the cooler air settles in.
