Incident Summary

Around 6 a.m. on Saturday, a Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) bus en route from Manali to Pathankot toppled near the Police Line area of Bashing in Kullu district. The vehicle, which had the driver, a conductor and four passengers aboard, came to rest on its side, causing injuries that range from minor bruises to more serious wounds.

People Affected

The six individuals taken to the Regional Hospital in Kullu include passengers Shyam Lal, 45, Krishna Thapa, 42, Chhaya Devi, 25 and Rakesh Kumar, 31, as well as driver Manmohan Singh, 42. Conductor Praveen, 46 suffered only light injuries. All were admitted for medical evaluation and care.

Police Action and Probe

Kullu police reached the crash site shortly after the accident and have opened a formal inquiry. Officers are collecting statements from witnesses and inspecting the road surface near the Police Line to ascertain whether driver error, mechanical failure, or external conditions contributed to the overturn.

Importance of the Route

The Manali‑Pathankot corridor serves as a vital link for locals and tourists moving through the Kullu valley. Because the bus was operating early in the morning, it was not fully loaded, a factor that may affect the ongoing investigation.

Current Situation

Medical staff continue to monitor the patients’ progress, while police officials have pledged to release further updates as the investigation unfolds.
