Arrest Close to the Line of Control
Security units operating in the Lam sector of Nowshera, Rajouri, stopped a teenage girl as she moved toward the Indian side of the Line of Control (LoC). The 17‑year‑old was taken into custody for an initial interview before being handed over to local police.
The girl was identified as Samiya Azeem, daughter of Mohammad Azeem, a resident of Khuiretta in Pakistan‑occupied Jammu & Kashmir (PoJK).
Police Take the Lead in the Probe
After the army concluded its preliminary questioning, Samiya was transferred to the Nowshera Police. Investigators are now reconstructing the route she used to reach the Indian side of the LoC.
In the first round of questioning, the teenager told officials that she had crossed the border by mistake. Security agencies are currently cross‑checking her claim and scrutinising the circumstances surrounding her movement.
Authorities Examine Every Angle
Both the security forces and the police are conducting a thorough review of the case. They are verifying her identity, mapping the exact path she took, and determining whether the crossing was truly accidental or driven by another motive.
Given the strategic sensitivity of the area, officials are handling the incident with extra caution, awaiting further evidence from ongoing interrogations and verification processes.
Minor Status Shapes the Investigation
Since Samiya is only 17, the inquiry will follow legal procedures applicable to minors. The primary aim is to establish the facts of her presence near the LoC, with no official motive disclosed at this stage.
Further updates will be provided as the investigation advances and authorities decide on any subsequent actions.
