New Central Grant Fuels Himachal’s Farming Initiatives
The Union has disbursed an additional ₹64.82 crore to reinforce agricultural programmes across Himachal Pradesh. The funds are earmarked for two cornerstone schemes designed to modernise the state’s agrarian sector.
How the Money Is Divided
Under the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY), the centre has earmarked ₹28.31 crore. A further ₹36.51 crore will flow via the Krishi Unnati Yojana. Together, these allocations make up the complete ₹64.82 crore package.
Political Leaders Praise the Support
Hamirpur MP and former Union minister Anurag Singh Thakur thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for the continued financial backing. Thakur noted that the fresh infusion will solidify ongoing infrastructure works and spark new projects aimed at uplifting Himachal’s farm sector.
Intended Use of the Funds
The grant will underwrite a spectrum of activities, including seed distribution, irrigation upgrades, and capacity‑building workshops for cultivators. Strengthening both RKVY and Krishi Unnati Yojana will accelerate planned interventions and sustain momentum on existing programmes.
Wider Significance
This allocation forms part of a broader central strategy to ensure timely financing for agriculture‑centric schemes across the nation. Himachal Pradesh’s latest tranche underscores the collaborative effort between the Union and the state to keep vital farming initiatives financially robust.
