Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami received a delegation of young leaders from Haryana who are spending three days exploring Uttarakhand. The interaction at the chief minister’s residence offered the guests a chance to voice their observations on the state’s recent breakthroughs in connectivity, tourism, renewable energy and welfare programmes.
Road, rail and broadband upgrades win accolades
The visitors highlighted the swift expansion of motorways and high‑speed internet across the rugged hills. New mountain passes and fiber‑optic links now connect even the most isolated hamlets, turning previously inaccessible spots into reachable destinations.
Railway extensions also earned praise, with the group noting that enhanced train services are opening fresh routes for pilgrims and tourists alike.
Beyond transport, the youths admired Uttarakhand’s clean air and the surge in homestay establishments, crediting proactive government policies that are converting family homes into thriving micro‑enterprises.
Infrastructure projects in border districts were singled out, as the delegates felt these initiatives are narrowing the development gap for communities living on the frontiers.
Homestays, solar rooftops and a serene ambience
During their itinerary, the Haryana team witnessed how upgraded tourism facilities are attracting larger footfalls. They observed that better roads and visitor amenities directly lift local incomes.
The solar‑rooftop scheme was described as a forward‑looking move, perfectly suited to Uttarakhand’s abundant sunshine and mountainous terrain.
Equally striking was the tranquil vibe and heartfelt hospitality of the residents, which helped the visitors feel the cultural pulse that has earned the region the title “Devbhoomi.”
CM Dhami on inter‑state learning
Welcoming the guests, CM Dhami invoked the timeless principle of “Atithi Devo Bhava.” He stressed that youth exchanges across states nurture respect for India’s diversity while showcasing successful development models, innovative practices and inclusive policies.
Such interactions, he said, can spark idea‑sharing and inspire young leaders to replicate best‑practices back home.
Emphasis on last‑mile development
The chief minister reiterated that Uttarakhand’s agenda focuses on channeling growth benefits to the grassroots. He outlined welfare schemes aimed at poor families, women, farmers and youth, all rooted in the Antyodaya philosophy.
Transparent recruitment drives have reportedly placed around 35,000 young professionals in state services over the past five years, creating pathways for employment and self‑employment.
Balancing progress with heritage
Uttarakhand, Dhami explained, is advancing while safeguarding its cultural and natural heritage. Key programmes span women’s empowerment, self‑employment, tourism promotion, local‑product branding, homestay support, solar energy rollout and border‑area development. He also referenced the state’s move toward a Uniform Civil Code.
Young people as digital brand ambassadors
During the dialogue, the CM urged the Haryana visitors to broadcast their positive experiences on social media. He described them as potential “digital brand ambassadors” who could highlight Uttarakhand’s pilgrimage sites, tourism attractions, native crafts, millets, homestays and the achievements of women’s self‑help groups.
By sharing these stories, the youths can raise nationwide awareness of Uttarakhand’s initiatives, strengthen cultural ties and encourage collaborative growth between Haryana and Uttarakhand in culture, tourism, innovation and development.
