Attempted Abduction at Galleria Market

On 21 September, a routine stop at Galleria Market turned perilous for 23‑year‑old Sahil Arora. After parking his vehicle and stepping into a coffee shop, he returned to discover three unknown men already inside his car, one brandishing a handgun and ordering Sahil to drive them away.

Quick Thinking Thwarts the Attack

When the gun failed to discharge, Sahil seized the chance, gunned the engine and forced the front assailant to abandon the vehicle. The two passengers in the back leapt out as the car sped away, disappearing into the surrounding traffic.

A scooter soon forced Sahil to stop. The remaining gunman fled, leaving his weapon behind. Investigators later recovered the pistol from the car as part of the evidence‑gathering process.

Police Response and Detentions

Sahil reported the incident the following day at the Sector‑29 police station. The Crime Branch of Sector‑43 launched an immediate investigation, tracing five suspects:

  • Praveen – resident of Sector‑67, Gurugram
  • Sumer Singh – Lakshman Vihar, Gurugram
  • Shiv Shankar – Vaidharm Colony, Faridabad
  • Aman – Meethapur, Delhi
  • Hemant – Meethapur, Delhi

All five individuals were taken into custody while detectives reconstructed each participant’s alleged role in the kidnapping plot.

Commission Grievance as the Motive

According to ACP Naveen Sharma, the entire episode stemmed from a dispute over a property commission. Praveen had assisted Sahil’s father in sealing a deal, only to watch another party close the transaction and leave Praveen unpaid.

Police contend that the financial shortfall drove Praveen to collude with Sumer Singh, hoping to coerce Sahil’s father into settling the outstanding amount and to block the subsequent sale.

GPS Tracking and Pre‑Planned Execution

Investigators discovered that Praveen had previously installed a GPS tracker on Sahil’s car, allowing the conspirators to monitor his movements in real time. The duo reportedly traveled from Nuh with the firearm, enlisting Shiv Shankar, Aman and Hemant to carry out the kidnapping.

The intended outcome was to use the threat of abduction as leverage, forcing the broker’s father to pay the disputed commission.

Authorities are preparing to present the five arrested suspects before a magistrate. Further interrogation will focus on the depth of the conspiracy, the origin of the weapon, and the specific involvement of each accused.
