Firozpur. Anticipating a steep rise in passenger traffic during the festive period, Northern Railway has introduced a dedicated special train linking Firozpur Cantt with Purnia, aimed at serving travelers bound for Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

Service numbers and frequency

The pair of trains, numbered 04634/04633 Firozpur Cantt‑Purnia‑Firozpur Cantt Special, will operate eight trips in each direction. Departures from Firozpur are scheduled every Thursday between 8 October and 26 November, while the return journeys from Purnia will run every Saturday from 10 October to 28 November.

Timetable

According to railway officials, train 04634 will leave Firozpur Cantt at 5:30 pm and arrive in Purnia around 3:00 am after roughly 33 hours 30 minutes on the rails.

On the reverse leg, train 04633 is slated to depart Purnia at 6:00 am and reach Firozpur Cantt at about 4:35 pm the following day, covering the distance in approximately 34 hours 35 minutes.

The special service traverses Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, stopping at important junctions such as Makhu, Lohian Khas, Nakodar, Phillaur, Dhandari Kalan, Chandigarh, Ambala Cantt, Yamunanagar‑Jagadhri, Saharanpur, Moradabad, Bareilly, Shahjahanpur, Sitapur, Gonda, Gorakhpur, Chhapra, Sonpur, Hajipur, Shahpur Patori, Barauni, Begusarai, Khagaria, Mansi, Naugachia and Katihar.

This extensive list of stations ensures that passengers traveling between Punjab and the heartland of eastern Uttar Pradesh and Bihar have a direct, hassle‑free option during the peak holiday season.

Coach composition

The train will comprise 16 coaches in total: five AC 3‑tier coaches, six sleeper‑class coaches and five general‑class coaches.

Railway officials emphasise that the additional service is designed to relieve congestion on regular trains and to provide a reliable alternative for holiday‑bound passengers.

With Durga Puja, Diwali and Chhath approaching, demand on routes connecting Punjab with eastern Uttar Pradesh and Bihar is expected to stay high. The new special train aims to accommodate that surge and help travelers reach their festive destinations comfortably.
