Tragic Assault on Former Sarpanch Sends Shockwaves Through Bathinda
On Sunday night, Jagtar Singh, the former sarpanch of Phoos Mandi village, was violently assaulted close to a liquor outlet near Jassi Pau Wali Chowk on Bathinda’s outskirts. The attack left him critically wounded, and he was declared dead at the scene.

Suspect Apprehended by Investigators
Within hours, detectives took Gurbax Singh, also a resident of Phoos Mandi, into custody in connection with the killing. The presumed murder weapon was recovered during the operation.
Bathinda Superintendent of Police (City) Aswant Singh Dhaliwal stated that preliminary inquiries suggest the incident stemmed from a personal dispute between the two men. Interrogations are continuing to ascertain the exact motive.
